Care instructions Furniture

You want your furniture to continue to inspire you in years to come just as much as it did on the first day. So give the surface a little treat every now and then – in the form of a short aftercare treatment.

Surface

Recycled timber

The wood surface can be freshly sealed and given a silky matt sheen with little effort. All you need is a special hard oil, two lint-free cotton cloths and a little time.

Before you start: the surface must be clean, grease-free, dry and dust-free.

Here we go: Apply the hard oil thinly with a cotton cloth or brush. After 20 – 30 minutes exposure time (at 20°C), rub the entire treated surface thoroughly with a dry, lint-free cloth until the surface has a uniform silky matt appearance. When rubbing down, ensure that all excess material is removed, otherwise shiny or sticky spots may remain. Dry and, if necessary, recoatable with itself after approx. 24 hours at 20°C and 60% relative humidity. Wash the brush immediately after use with turpentine and then with warm soapy water.

Take care: There is a risk of spontaneous combustion due to the content of self-drying oils! Soaked cotton cloths and cleaning rags should therefore be spread out to dry outdoors or stored in a closed, fireproof container (tin can or glass).

Product recommendation: “Pure Solid” hard oil from Kreidezeit, see manufacturer for application.

Surface

Linoleum

Linoleum is totally uncomplicated to care for. All you need is a soft cloth and standard washing-up liquid.

Here we go: Loose dirt can be removed with dust-binding cloths. To remove stubborn stains, dissolve a hand dishwashing detergent in water according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Soak a soft cloth in it and wring it out well. Wipe the linoleum surface clean. For stubborn dirt and stains, apply the undiluted cleaning agent to a soft cloth and use it to clean the dirt. Remove the dissolved dirt with a clean, absorbent cloth and then wipe the surface with a damp cloth moistened with clean water. We do not recommend using a care set, as these usually contain oil and cause unsightly shiny spots on the table top.

Note: Linoleum surfaces can develop a “yellow tinge”, the drying chamber film, in the post-oxidation phase. However, this disappears completely when exposed to UV light and the linoleum retains its original colour. This “yellow tinge” can occur again and again if parts of the surface are covered for a longer period of time, e.g. with monitors, mouse pads etc.. However, as soon as the flooring is exposed to daylight again, this colour will disappear. The dry chamber film cannot be removed by cleaning.
